SUMMARY OF SPECIFICATIONS:
Notice is hereby given that the Board of Fire Commissioners of the Westmere Fire District will accept bids for the delivery and installation of 25 Firefighter Escape Systems to be used by the Westmere Fire Department in the prevention and suppression of fires in the Westmere Fire District. Copies of specifications may be obtained at the Westmere Fire District offices, located at 1732 Western Avenue, Albany, New York 12203 by telephoning the district offices at 518-456-6734 to make an appointment. All bids must be submitted in a sealed, opaque envelope, marked “Escape Systems Bid” which will be opened at 6:30 p.m. on February 24, 2011 at the fire district offices. Bids must be valid for 30 days. The Board of Fire Commissioners reserves the right to reject any and all bids. Sean Maguire Secretary Westmere Fire District General Requirements The Scott integrated self-rescue device shall be compliant to NFPA 1983, 2006 Edition standards and NIOSH certified and NFPA 1981, 2007 Edition compliant as a component of the Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA). The complete system shall be capable of a 3,034 lb. static load, exceeding the NFPA 300lb requirement. The assembly shall consist of the following components: waist belt, life safety rope, fall descent device and anchor connector. Waist Belt 1. The belt assembly shall be available as a one length to fit waists 28-58 inches. 2. The belt shall be made of Kevlar with yellow center marker with adjustable D-ring. 3. The outer sleeve shall be made of FHR Advance material. Life Safety Rope 1. The life safety rope shall be available in two Kevlar webbing lengths, 50 ft. or 75 ft. with an anchor end double sewn for life safety and a 2” steel ring single stitched to tail end for emergency stop. 2. The Kevlar webbing shall be rated at a 5,000 lbs static load. Fall Descent Device The system shall incorporate a Fire A/L Auto locking descent device for descending in an emergency egress situation. Anchor Connector The system shall include a Crosby 360 hook Installation Cost of installation shall be quoted on a per unit basis. SCBA are Scott Model Fifty with heads-up display.
